World AIDS Day Youth Event

Regan Hofmann, renown AIDS activist,  spoke at Greenwich High School and p1030768-2Greenwich Academy on December 4th to over 350 students.   In Spring of 2009, students from area high schools formed a Youth Council to begin preparations for World AIDS Day.  World AIDS Day, observed December 1 each year, is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic.  This year, local students conceived a program that combined education and philanthropy.  Celebrated author, activist, and person living with HIV, Regan Hofmann (also editor-in-chief of POZ  magazine), shared her story at Greenwich High School as well as Greenwich Academy/Brunswick.  Her presentation was followed on December 11th with AID for AIDS, a dance at Arch Street Teen Center where students celebrated life while promoting awareness and raising money to fight AIDS.
